Multi Village Selector
by RhettL
Multi Village Selector, or MVS, decides which village mod wins each spawn when several are installed on a server, using weighted choices instead of letting them compete for the same slots.
What it does
MVS intercepts vanilla village generation before other village mods process it, then selects one configured village structure at random according to the weights set in its config. Biome rules still apply, so desert villages spawn in deserts and snowy villages spawn in snow. Modpack creators can set how often each village type appears and control the mix or ratio between them, rather than leaving the outcome to whichever mod happens to load first. Settings live in a single config file, and the author notes that the weight generator gives a sensible starting point but is not always perfect.
Installation needs Architectury API on both Fabric and NeoForge, and Fabric API on Fabric. MVS runs on the server side only, so players join without installing it. It is published for 1.21.1 on Fabric and NeoForge in version 0.4.2, and the code is released under the MIT License, so it is open source. Some village mods need their own village spawning disabled to work with MVS, and the mod's compatibility notes list the setup steps.
Key features
Weighted village selection
Installed village structures are chosen at random according to configured weights, so each type appears in a known proportion.
Vanilla spawn interception
MVS takes over village generation before other village mods run, which ends the competition for the same spawn locations.
Biome-aware spawning
Village types keep their biome rules, so each structure appears only in the biomes it was built for.
Piece-level replacement
Mods that replace individual village buildings or paths, rather than adding whole villages, can be handled through the same selection step.
