More Rails
by hbop
More Rails adds superpowered and directional rails to Fabric worlds, and makes minecarts reach a higher top speed on them.
What it does
Superpowered rails are a new rail type crafted with gold. Directional rails are powered rails that boost a minecart in one direction only: a cart that approaches from the wrong side is reversed, and a cart standing still starts moving when a block sits behind the rail. Old powered rails are now crafted with copper instead of gold, and the top speed of minecarts is raised to 20 m/s.
Crafting recipes were adjusted to make rails cheaper. Regular rails yield 24 pieces per craft, and superpowered rails yield 12. A directional rail takes the same copper-based pattern as a powered rail, with quartz placed in the top slot. The mod requires Fabric API. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Builds cover 1.21.3 – 1.21.8, released under the MIT License, and the source code is open source.
Key features
Superpowered rails
A gold-based rail that carries minecarts faster than the powered rails it extends.
Directional rails
Rails that push a minecart in one direction, reverse carts that arrive from the wrong side, and start carts from rest when a block is behind them.
Faster minecarts
Minecart top speed is increased to 20 m/s, so carts cover longer tracks in less time.
Cheaper rail recipes
Regular rails craft 24 at a time and superpowered rails 12, so track building needs fewer raw materials.

Use cases
Long transit lines
Track builders who run carts across large networks can use superpowered rails to cut travel time on long straight sections.
Station starts
Directional rails placed with a block behind them can launch a cart from a standstill at a platform.
Who it’s for: Players who build minecart transport on Fabric worlds and multiplayer servers, where both sides need the mod to keep rail behavior consistent.
How it compares
Modern Metro is a Fabric mod for 1.21 – 1.21.1, released under the MIT License and open source, and it runs on client and server. Dunac's Copper Rails is also Fabric, published for 1.21.11 only, with all rights reserved, so its source code is not open source. Era of Rails is Fabric for 1.21.8 – 1.21.11, under the MIT License and open source, and it covers the same environment as More Rails.
