Dunac's Copper Rails

by DukeDunac

Dunac's Copper Rails adds a copper powered rail that accelerates minecarts like the vanilla gold powered rail, at a lower material cost.

FabricClient and serverAll rights reserved1.21.11

What it does

Copper powered rails accelerate minecarts in the same manner as gold powered rails, applying a stronger push than the vanilla version. The mod is meant to make rail travel more practical, since vanilla powered rails give a weaker acceleration that the mod compensates for by raising the gold powered rail value. Logistics networks can swap copper rails for gold rails one to one and notice only the increased efficiency.

Minecart maximum speed rises to around 200 blocks per second. Using the mod with Minecart Improvements can force minecarts to follow its movement logic, and that setup requires players to enable Experimental Minecart Improvements. Redstone contraptions that depend on minecart timing may break, so builds that rely on it should be tested before the change is applied.

The mod targets 1.21.11 only and is published for Fabric. The server and every player need the mod installed. The code is under All rights reserved, and source code and an issue tracker are publicly linked. It is not open source.

Key features

  1. Copper powered rail

A new rail item that is cheaper to craft and more plentiful than the gold powered rail it replaces.

  2. Stronger rail acceleration

The powered rail acceleration value is raised so carts travel faster on rail lines than in vanilla.

  3. Higher minecart speed cap

Minecart maximum speed increases to around 200 blocks per second.

  4. Minecart Improvements integration

The mod can make minecarts use the movement logic of Minecart Improvements when that option is enabled.

Questions

Does Dunac's Copper Rails need to be installed on both sides?

Yes. Servers that run it need every player to install it too.

Which game version does Dunac's Copper Rails support?

The mod has a single file for 1.21.11 on Fabric, dated 2026-04-10. Other versions are not covered.

Will the mod break existing minecart redstone builds?

It may. Redstone contraptions that depend on minecart timing can stop working because carts now move faster, so those builds should be checked after installing.

What the author says

This mod adds a new item, the Copper Powered Rail. This item functions in exactly the same way as a normal gold powered rail, but accelerates carts more slowly. As this mod is intended to make rail travel more viable than vanilla, I have compensated for this lower acceleration by significantly increasing the gold…
