More Harnesses
by pitan76
More Harnesses adds harness items for the Happy Ghast, from copper up to netherite, that change how the mount moves and fights.
What it does
Each harness is an equippable item that raises the Happy Ghast's speed and defense. The series runs from copper, iron, gold, diamond, emerald and netherite tiers, so a rider can pick a harness that suits longer trips or more dangerous travel. Without a harness the default Happy Ghast moves slowly, and the added speed and defense make the mount more useful for both travel and combat.
Harnesses are added through Fabric and NeoForge builds that require Fabric API and MCPitanLib. Both the server and every player need the mod, so the environment is client and server. Files cover 1.21.6 – 26.2 across 10 release versions, and the project is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Copper and iron harnesses
The first tiers add early harness items that raise the Happy Ghast's speed and defense over the default mount.
Gold and diamond harnesses
Mid-range harnesses add stronger speed and armor bonuses for longer journeys and more contested areas.
Emerald and netherite harnesses
The top tiers provide the largest bonuses, aimed at players who ride the Happy Ghast in late-game travel and combat.
Iron and gold Happy Ghast variant
A combined iron and gold harness adds a distinct Happy Ghast option alongside the standard tiers.

Use cases
Long-distance travel
The speed bonuses shorten trips across large worlds, where the default Happy Ghast is slow.
Combat mounts
The armor bonuses make the Happy Ghast a sturdier mount in fights, a role the default mount fills poorly.
Who it’s for: Players who ride the Happy Ghast and want faster travel or a tougher mount, and server owners who want harness progression on a shared world.
How it compares
Better Harnesses is a Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt mod for 1.21.6 – 26.3, required on the server with the client optional, and under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, so it is not open source. Swift Flight is open source under the MIT License, covering 1.21.6 – 26.3 on the same four loaders, and the server needs it while the client may leave it out. More Harnesses instead needs both client and server, and it focuses on tiered harness items.
