Mod Settings

by magicus

Mod Settings puts a single button and the F6 hotkey on a Vanilla-style screen that lists the configuration screens of installed mods.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.17 – 26.3

What it does

Mod Settings collects the configuration screens of installed Fabric mods in one place. Opening it through the F6 hotkey, which can be changed from the ordinary Key Binds options screen, takes a player straight to a mod's settings, so there is no need to scroll the Mod Menu list to find a particular mod. The screen is modeled on how Mod Options works on Forge, and it is meant for setups with many mods, where a single page is likely to hold all of them.

Mod Settings requires Fabric Loader and Fabric API. Mod Menu is optional: when it is present, mods configured inside Mod Menu are listed on the Mod Settings screen, and the other way around, though mods without a Mod Menu configuration screen are not listed. The mod is client-side only, so only the client needs it. Files are published for Fabric 1.17 – 26.3, and the code is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Single configuration screen

A Vanilla-style menu lists the configuration screens of installed mods, reached with one button.

  2. F6 hotkey

The default key opens the screen directly, and the key can be remapped in the Key Binds options.

  3. Mod Menu integration

Mods configured through Mod Menu appear on the Mod Settings screen, and the reverse also applies.

  4. Content Creator Integration support

Later releases of Content Creator Integration fix an incompatible Mod Menu implementation from older builds.

Simple Close Button is client-side only, open source under the MIT License and published for 1.20 – 1.21.4, so it covers a different button rather than configuration screens. Hotbar Presets is also client-side only and open source under the Apache License 2.0, with files for 1.17 – 26.1.2, and it is a separate tool for saving hotbar layouts. KeepMyModMenuScroll is client-side only, not open source, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0, and published for 1.21 – 26.2, and it keeps the Mod Menu scroll position.

Questions

Does Mod Settings need Mod Menu?

No. Mod Menu is optional. Without it, Mod Settings still works, but mods configured only through Mod Menu do not appear on its screen.

Which Fabric API version does Mod Settings need?

Fabric API is a required dependency and must be installed alongside Mod Settings. Files are published for Fabric 1.17 – 26.3.

Does Mod Settings need to be installed on the server?

No. It is installed on the player's side alone, so servers need nothing.

Can the F6 hotkey be changed?

Yes. The hotkey can be remapped from the ordinary Key Binds options screen.
