MiniPlaceholders

by MiniPlaceholders

MiniPlaceholders is a library that lets other mods and server plugins define placeholders written in MiniMessage, the Component-based text format used by Minecraft Platforms.

FabricQuiltApache License 2.0Open source1.7.2 – 26.2

What it does

Placeholders registered through the library can be placed in chat messages, tab lists, scoreboards and other text, and their output is rendered as formatted Components rather than plain strings. This keeps colors and styling intact when a value is inserted. Other mods on Fabric and Quilt declare the placeholders they need, and the library resolves them at display time.

Files are published for Fabric and Quilt, and the same library also runs on Paper, Purpur, Folia, Sponge and Velocity. Game versions with files run 1.7.2 – 26.2, and snapshot builds are published as well. The latest Fabric and Quilt files are 3.2.1 for 26.2, released 2026-09-07. MiniPlaceholders is open source under the Apache License 2.0.

Expressions Provider requires this library, so it has to be installed alongside that mod. Server-side platforms need the matching build: Paper 1.21 and newer, Velocity 3.4.0 and newer, Fabric 1.21.4 and newer, and Sponge API 12 and newer each have their own requirements.

Key features

  1. MiniMessage placeholders

Placeholders are defined and resolved as MiniMessage Components, so formatting tags survive substitution.

  2. Component-based output

Values are returned as Components instead of raw strings, which keeps styling and click or hover events in place.

  3. Cross-platform builds

One placeholder API covers Fabric, Quilt, Paper, Purpur, Folia, Sponge and Velocity.

  4. Shared dependency

Mods such as Expressions Provider rely on it, so one copy of the library serves all of them.
