Manhunt

by fmg1925

Manhunt adds a Hunters-and-Runner game to Fabric servers, where tracking compasses point the hunters toward one chosen player.

FabricServer-side onlyGNU General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.21 – 1.21.11

What it does

Server owners pick a Runner with a command, and every other player becomes a Hunter who receives a compass that updates its target about once a second. The compass shows when the Runner changes dimension and reports when the Runner is out of range. A Hunter who dies has the compass dropped on the ground instead of being returned to the inventory at respawn, so it cannot be stolen or lost to another player.

The command set includes setting, removing and checking the Runner, plus a way to get a compass again. These commands need OP permission. Manhunt requires Fabric API, and it is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. The environment is server-side only, so players join without installing it, and the mod is published for 1.21 – 1.21.11.

Key features

  1. Runner selection command

A command with OP permission sets the Runner, and another removes that player from the role.

  2. Live compass tracking

Each Hunter's compass refreshes once a second to keep the bearing accurate.

  3. Dimension and range alerts

The compass reports when the Runner moves to another dimension or leaves tracking range.

  4. Dropped compass on death

A Hunter who dies leaves the compass on the ground rather than returning it on respawn.

Use cases

Hunt games on a server

Server owners run a round where one player is chased by the rest, with the compasses keeping the hunt going across dimensions.

Who it’s for: Server owners and groups who want a timed chase game on a Fabric server, since the command controls and compass behavior are set on the server.

What the author says

It gives Hunters a tracking compass that updates every second, which keeps the tracking accurate without slowing down your server. The compass detects when the Runner moves to a different dimension, and will let you know they are currently out of range. If a Hunter dies, the compass is not dropped on the ground…
