Cursors Extended
by fishstiz
Players who want Minecraft-themed pointers instead of the default system cursor can install Cursors Extended, a client-side mod that swaps them out.
What it does
The mod replaces the default system cursors with textures drawn from Minecraft, and the set can be changed through resource packs. Cursor textures, animations and extra cursor shapes for other contexts all come from those packs, and the in-game settings control scale and related options. The mod was previously known as Minecraft Cursor, and the rename came before 1.21.9 introduced breaking changes to its resource pack format.
Fabric API is required on Fabric. Mod Menu is optional and adds a settings entry for the mod. Only the client needs Cursors Extended, so servers run without it. It is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 18 release versions, 1.20.1 – 26.3, and snapshot builds are published. The code is open source under the MIT License.
Resource packs for version 3 of the format work up to 1.21.8, while version 4 packs are needed from 1.21.9 on, and the two are not interchangeable. A converter tool exists for moving v3 packs forward. Cursor settings reset whenever resource pack settings change, which avoids mismatched hotspots and sizes.
Key features
Minecraft-themed textures
Default system cursors are replaced with cursor art taken from the game's own look, served through resource packs.
Animated cursors
Resource packs can include cursor animations, so the pointer can move through frames instead of staying still.
Extra cursor shapes
Additional shapes are included for contexts that the default cursor set does not cover, such as specific GUI situations.
Legacy Mode for GUI logic
An option adds cursor behavior to a range of GUI elements that otherwise keep the standard pointer.
Configurable options
Cursor settings can be adjusted on the Mods screen or under Options, Controls, Mouse Settings, Cursor Settings.

Use cases
Custom resource packs
Pack makers can build a full cursor set, share it on supported platforms, and have it featured on the project's page.
Converting older packs
Packs made for version 3 of the format can be converted with the V3 Converter so they work on 1.21.9 and later.
Who it’s for: Players who want themed pointers on their own clients, and resource pack creators who build cursor sets for them.
How it compares
More Cursors is client-side only, open source under the MIT License, and published for Fabric and Quilt across 1.20 – 1.21.8, so it covers fewer loaders and a shorter range. Re-Cursor is client-side only and Fabric-only for 1.20.1 – 1.21.5, under All rights reserved. Cursorify is client-side only, supports Fabric and Forge for 1.20 – 1.20.6, and is also under All rights reserved.
