Soft Loader
by fishstiz
Soft Loader controls which datapacks load in a world and in what order, set once when the world is created and changeable afterward from an in-game screen.
What it does
Datapacks placed in the datapacks directory under the game directory are loaded automatically without being forced on. The initial load order is applied only when a new world is set up, and it is enforced only at that stage. Afterward, the order can be changed and world-specific datapacks can be added from the in-game datapack selection screen. Built-in datapacks can be set to load automatically in their own order.
Server owners can use it to override the initial-enabled-packs and initial-disabled-packs settings in server.properties, so datapacks listed in the loadOrder setting are enabled regardless of the directory they come from. Other datapacks sort after the listed ones, and newly added datapacks are handled the way the vanilla mod loader handles them, typically added at the top.
The server needs Soft Loader, while players may add it or leave it out. It is published for Fabric only, across 15 release versions 1.21 – 26.1.2, and is open source under the MIT License. Files for 26.1.2 are the latest, with 1.0.1+26.1 dated 2026-03-26.
Key features
Datapack auto-loading
Datapacks in the configured directories load automatically, and each can be set to enabled, disabled or left optional.
Initial load order
A load order can be written for a new world, and the list sorts from bottom to top with unlisted packs after it.
Built-in datapack order
Built-in datapacks can be set to load automatically, and their order is set in the same initial configuration.
In-game reordering
After world creation, the datapack selection screen allows reordering and adding world-specific datapacks.
