Melancholic Hunger & HUD
by antigers
Melancholic Hunger & HUD removes the hunger bar and restores health regeneration from eating, in the style of classic Minecraft beta versions.
What it does
With the hunger system removed, food restores health directly and sprinting depends on the player's remaining health. Food stacks are smaller, which limits carrying an endless supply, and the HUD shows how many hearts a held food item will replenish. Eating can be made instantaneous, and a hunger effect is replaced by a poison effect with a shorter duration.
The armor bar is drawn from right to left, and the experience bar stays hidden until the player gains experience or uses a workstation; it can also be hidden automatically, matching the look of older releases. Nearly every option can be toggled through a GUI config, which needs Mod Menu. The mod runs on both client and server, so server owners and every player install it. Fabric API and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) are required, and Farmer's Delight, Farmer's Delight Refabricated and Nostalgic Tweaks are optional. Builds exist for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, covering 1.20.1 – 26.3, and the code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
