Mcedia Core
by unrealtoby
Players who want videos inside the game can use Mcedia Core, a Fabric client mod that plays media on in-world screens with spatial audio and danmaku display.
What it does
Mcedia Core provides the runtime for playing media inside the game. It renders video onto in-world screen surfaces, such as a TV stand, and plays the sound through the game's own audio system, including left and right channel separation for directional sound. Playback controls cover pause, resume, playback speed and seeking, and a global video volume slider is added to the vanilla sound settings screen.
The mod is aimed at players who stream or watch clips from inside Minecraft, and it integrates with Sound Physics Remastered for sound behavior. Performance settings let a player cap the maximum video resolution, limit active decoders and throttle decoding. Playback instances that are less important or out of view are suspended, which reduces decoding and texture upload work when several screens run at once. Settings are stored in a client configuration file that loads when the game starts.
The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source; its source code is public. Mcedia China Media Platforms Resolver requires it. Files target Fabric for 1.21.1 – 26.2 across 15 release versions, and the mod can be run alongside Paper and Folia servers, although it only runs on the client.
Key features
In-world video screens
Video is rendered onto screen surfaces placed in the world, such as a TV stand, instead of a separate window.
Spatial audio
Sound is positioned with left and right channel separation, so playback comes from the direction of the screen.
Danmaku display
Scrolling comments can be shown over playing video and switched on or off as needed.
Decoder and texture limits
Maximum resolution, active decoders and throttled decoding are adjustable, and less important playback instances are suspended to reduce load.
