MapMakerMusic

by Neuromuser

MapMakerMusic lets adventure map builders play custom OGG audio files at chosen spots in a world, without a resource pack.

What it does

The mod adds an Audiobox block that stores ordered queues of music tracks and plays them when a redstone impulse or a chain is triggered. Map developers can attach conditions to each queue, so a track starts only when a player meets a rule. Conditions are mostly plain Minecraft commands combined with AND and OR groups, and a preset type or a custom command can be picked for each one.

Building the area for a box is handled by hitting a block with the left mouse button while holding an Audiobox, which remembers the first and second positions. The selection tool is described as much faster than the axe function of a common world-editing tool. Installation is needed on both sides: the server and every player run the mod, and it is published for Fabric and Forge under the MIT License, which is open source. Files cover 1.20.1 only, with the latest 2.0.3 released on 2026-10-11 for both loaders, and the source code is public.

Key features

  1. Audiobox block

A block that holds ordered queues of tracks and plays them on redstone or on a chain of conditions.

  2. Impulse and chain modes

An impulse plays once when redstone activates it, while a chain checks conditions each tick for players inside its bounds.

  3. Queues with conditions

Each queue carries conditions of its own, and the queue whose conditions match first is the one that plays.

  4. Area selection

Left-clicking blocks while holding an Audiobox records two positions, which define the area a box covers.
