Loot Beams Up
by EnsoX
With Loot Beams Up installed, dropped items on the ground show colored light beams whose colors depend on the item name, and nametags appear when a player looks at or crouches near an item.
What it does
Every dropped item receives a beam, and the beam color follows the name of the item. A whitelist, a blacklist, color overrides and NBT tags can change which items get beams and what color they show. A nametag appears when a player looks at an item or crouches, so the item can be identified without picking it up.
The mod adds a Droplight beam render type, gradient colors for beams and ground glow, and trails that can be scaled by height. Item frames can show tooltips for items with custom names. A preset manager screen, opened with the Numpad 5 key by default, saves named presets next to a set of default presets, and the settings are built with Cloth Config.
Required dependencies are Cloth Config API, Fabric API and Mod Menu, and Iceberg, Legendary Tooltips and Prism are optional. The mod runs on Fabric and Quilt, with the latest files for 1.21.4, and it is released under the MIT License but is not open source.
Key features
Colored item beams
Each dropped item gets a beam whose color is taken from its name, and custom rarities can set their own colors.
Beam fade on approach
Beams fade or brighten as the player walks toward an item, so nearby loot stands out.
Preset manager screen
Named presets can be saved, and a set of default presets can be applied from a screen opened with the Numpad 5 key.
Custom rarities
Items with minecraft:custom data can define a rarity name and color, and translatable strings work through resource and data packs.
Gradient and ground glow
Beams and ground glow effects can use a second gradient color, and their size can change smoothly.

Use cases
Finding loot in busy areas
Players exploring a crowded drop site can spot valuable items from a distance and read their names with the nametags.
Custom loot systems
Pack authors can attach custom rarity data to items so their beams show the intended tier.
Who it’s for: Players who run Fabric or Quilt and want clearer loot visibility on the ground. It runs on the client alone, so servers do not need it.
