Linked Storage

by kyrptonaught

With Linked Storage, a dyed pad on a chest links it to every other storage block that carries the same dye pattern, so they share one inventory.

FabricClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.18.2 – 1.20.1

What it does

Storage blocks are joined through dye channels. A player applies dye to the pads on top of a chest to pick a channel, and any other storage block that uses the same dye pattern shares that inventory. Storage blocks that work with hoppers and most pipe mods can take part, so items can be moved between linked containers automatically.

Right-clicking a chest while holding a diamond turns it into a personal channel chest, and that channel is unique to the player who made it. Crafting a handheld storage item lets a player open linked inventories remotely, and right-clicking a storage block copies its dye channel onto the handheld item. The mod is open source under the MIT License and is published for Fabric only, across 7 release versions 1.18.2 – 1.20.1, with 1.5.2-1.19.3 as the latest file for 1.20.1.

Key features

  1. Linkable storage blocks

Chests and other storage blocks join a shared inventory when they are given the same dye pattern on their top pads.

  2. Personal dye channels

Right-clicking a chest holding a diamond converts it into a personal channel chest that only its owner's channel reaches.

  3. Handheld remote access

A crafted handheld storage item opens linked inventories from a distance, and it copies a dye channel from a storage block when right-clicked.

  4. Default textures

The default resource pack gives the blocks textures based on the original EnderStorage, with thanks to Samo Lego for creating them.

Use cases

Hopper-fed storage

A linked chest can receive items from one hopper line and feed several other linked storage blocks, so a single input supplies a whole room.

Who it’s for: Players who want one storage network reachable from several chests, and server owners who want shared containers without adding a separate storage system.

What the author says

Linked storage allows you to link your inventories together. By applying a dye to the dye-able pads on top of the chest you can specify the "channel" that chest is linked to. All other Storage Blocks with the same dye pattern will share the same inventory. Storage Blocks are compatible with hoppers and most other…
