LibreExpFix (Fixes "0 Experience" Bug)
by null2264
LibreExpFix is a server-side fix for the MC-124177 bug, where a player's experience reads as 0 after teleporting across dimensions.
What it does
When a player moves between dimensions, the experience shown on the bar can drop to zero. LibreExpFix corrects that after the teleport, so the stored value is what the player sees. The fix runs on the server alone, so players join without installing anything.
The mod is released under The Unlicense and is open source, with public links for the source code and the issue tracker. It needs no required dependencies, and it does not depend on Fabric API. Files exist for 1.18 – 1.20.6, with Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt builds and snapshot builds published alongside the release versions.
The latest file for each loader is 0.2.7 for 1.20.6 on Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt, and 0.2.7 for 1.20.4 on Forge, all dated 2024-04-24 on the beta channel. The first build was published on 2022-09-13, and the last update came on 2024-04-24. Forge builds stopped at 1.20.2, and updates from that point go to NeoForge.
Key features
Experience fix after dimension travel
Restores the experience value a player holds after crossing into another dimension, such as the Nether or the End.
Server-only operation
Only the server runs the fix, so clients join with an unmodified installation.
Dependency-free install
The mod does not require Fabric API or any other library, and it has no required dependencies.
Tested in superflat worlds
The author tested it in a superflat creative world using flight mode and teleport commands to the Nether and Overworld.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
1.20.x7 of 7 versions with builds
1.19.x5 of 5 versions with builds
1.18.x3 of 3 versions with builds
This mod also publishes snapshot builds. Snapshots are not shown in the matrix.
Use cases
Who it’s for: Server owners running Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt servers on 1.18 – 1.20.6 who see players lose their experience after changing dimensions. Single-player players on a client-only setup do not need it.
How it compares
Trigger Night Vision is a server-required mod with a different purpose, published for 1.14 – 1.21.8 under All rights reserved and not open source. NIGHT VISION HOTKEY is a client-side only mod under the MIT License, open source, for 1.7.1 – 26.2 on the same four loaders. Spectator Night Vision is server-required too and open source under the MIT License, but it adds night vision rather than fixing experience.

What the author says
This mod is no longer needed in MC 1.21 (or newer) as the bug has been fixed on 24w20a (1.21). A small mod that fixed experience bug after teleporting across dimensions MC-124177. So small that you don't even need FabricAPI!
