KH Thirst Bar
by JGFox
KH Thirst Bar adds a thirst gauge and a temperature gauge that appear in the actionbar above the armor row, and it runs on the server.
What it does
Thirst and temperature are tracked by the server and shown to each player in the actionbar, placed close above the armor bubbles. Effects tied to walking, running, jumping, swimming, attacking, shade, weather and elevation change the player's values, so the survival loop depends on keeping water and temperature in range. The difficulty of this pressure can be adjusted to suit the world.
The mod is a datapack-style system that works in single-player and multiplayer worlds and uses vanilla mechanics as its base. Players need nothing installed to join a server that runs it, and the mod can also run on Paper, Spigot, Bukkit and Purpur. Geyser is supported for Bedrock players. The full set of files is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Quilt and LiteLoader, with the 1.61 build covering 1.21.8 only.
Key features
Thirst actionbar gauge
A thirst gauge appears in the actionbar just above the armor bubbles, so the value is visible during normal play.
Temperature gauge
A second gauge in the same actionbar tracks temperature, which shifts with shade, weather and elevation.
Activity-based effects
Walking, running, jumping, swimming and attacking each change the thirst and temperature values to a different degree.
Adjustable difficulty
The strength of the thirst and temperature pressure can be tuned, which lets a server set how demanding survival feels.
Vanilla-based mechanics
The system is built on the game's own mechanics, so it sits alongside existing food and healing systems.
