Just Enough Guns

by MigaMi

Just Enough Guns is a Forge and NeoForge gun mod that puts firearms into survival progression, where players gather resources across biomes before crafting weapons.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v2.0 or laterOpen source1.18 – 1.20.1

What it does

Guns are crafted at three workbenches, each tier gated by more valuable materials, and the strongest firearms need the rarest resources. Players travel through different biomes to collect them, so progression follows the search for materials. The mod is a fork of MrCrayfish's Gun Mod and keeps the firearm designs close to the look of vanilla Minecraft.

Guns and attachments lose durability with use. As durability drops, the chance of a gun jamming rises, and the Unbreaking and Mending enchantments reduce that risk. Framework is required on 1.18.2 and newer, and Geckolib is required for the Re-Animated versions. The mod is open source under the GNU General Public License v2.0 or later, and it is installed on both the client and the server. Files cover 1.18 – 1.20.1 across 8 release versions, and the latest Forge file is 0.14.5 for 1.20.1.

Key features

  1. Fourteen working guns

The current release includes 14 functional guns, with more planned for future updates.

  2. Animated firearms

Three guns come with full animations, and several include bayonets as a melee option.

  3. Three workbenches

Scrap, Gunmetal and Gunnite workbenches form the crafting tiers that gate each weapon class.

  4. Attachments and custom models

Most guns accept attachments that change their stats and models, letting players tune each weapon.

  5. Recycler Station

Guns can be recycled to recover part of the materials used to build them.

  6. Two new ores

Scrap Stone and a second new ore are added to the world, and Scrap blocks are made from nine Scrap.

How it compares

Full comparison

Vanilla Animated Guns is also a Forge and NeoForge gun mod, but it targets 1.19.4 – 1.20.1, is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and is client and server. Armed N' Dangerous runs only on Forge for 1.20.1, is client and server, and is not open source. Its license combines LGPL-3.0-or-later with a separate ARR license.
