J-AvatarSMP

by Bashmeg

J-AvatarSMP is a Fabric mod by Bashmeg that adds an avatar power system driven by a soul count that players gain and lose.

FabricClient and serverCC0 1.0 UniversalOpen source1.21.1 – 26.2

What it does

Players start with 2 souls, and the count can range from a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 7. Soul powers become usable once a player holds 5 souls, so the count decides which abilities are open. Souls are dropped when a player dies, which makes death carry a real cost in the avatar progression.

The mod is based on Joost's Joe's Avatar SMP and extends it with the idea that the avatar holds other powers beyond the basic one. It is meant for survival worlds and multiplayer servers that want a shared progression system built around souls.

Installation covers the server and each player's game. Files exist for Fabric only, with game versions 1.21.1, 1.21.11 and 26.2, the latest being 26.2-2.1.4 for 26.2 released 2026-07-05. The code is released under CC0 1.0 Universal and is open source, and the source code is public.

Key features

  1. Soul-based avatar powers

Soul powers become available once a player holds 5 souls, tying the abilities to a single adjustable resource.

  2. Soul count from 0 to 7

The number of souls a player can hold is bounded between 0 and 7, and each player begins with 2.

  3. Souls dropped on death

A player who dies loses souls, so the soul count changes with every death as well as with play.

  4. Avatar holds other powers

The avatar role carries powers beyond the basic one, expanding the set of abilities available to the player.
