ItemLocks
by Kirdow
With ItemLocks, a player can lock individual inventory slots so that items in them cannot be moved by accident during a fight or while carrying gear.
What it does
ItemLocks lets a player lock single inventory slots. Holding the LOCK key (default C) while left clicking a slot toggles its lock. A locked slot resists moves, drops and other accidental changes, so a weapon or armor piece stays where it was placed. Holding the BYPASS key (default B) and interacting with a slot skips the lock for that action, and emptying a slot this way does not remove its lock. Empty slots cannot be locked yet, and a lock on an empty slot clears once an item is placed there.
Lock states are stored separately for each world and server, so the setup carries over without any manual saving. The settings screen opens from the mod list or with the OPTIONS key (default N), and every option can be adjusted there. Cloth Config API is required, and Mod Menu and Mouse Tweaks are optional. The mod runs on the client only and is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 28 release versions, 1.18.2 – 26.3. All rights reserved applies to the code, so the mod is not open source.
Key features
Per-slot locks
Any inventory slot can be locked or released with a click while the LOCK key is held.
Bypass key
Holding the BYPASS key lets a player move a locked item when it is needed, without removing the lock.
Saved per world or server
Lock layouts are kept for each world and server and reapplied automatically on return.
Configurable settings
Options are reachable from the mod list or the OPTIONS key and cover the key layout and lock behavior.
Lock clears on empty slots
An empty slot with a lock releases itself until an item is placed in it again.

A player locks the weapon or armor slot before a fight so that a panicked key press does not drop it.
Reserving a hotbar slot
A builder keeps a key tool in a locked hotbar slot while moving stacks around the inventory.
Who it’s for: Players who want to protect specific items from accidental moves in survival, PvP or multiplayer games.
