ItemDisabled

by Banned Studios

ItemDisabled lets server operators block selected items, blocks, armor and food from being used, through a single command.

FabricForgeNeoForgeCreative Commons Attribution 4.01.20.1 – 26.2

What it does

Operators run a command to disable certain items, including blocks, armor and food, for a set duration or indefinitely. The command takes a Minecraft item ID to name the target, and the duration is given in seconds, with -1 meaning the disablement never ends. A matching enable command lifts the restriction again.

When a disabled item is held and a player tries to use it, the attempt is cancelled and a message appears. Left and right clicks, attacking entities, interacting with blocks, and equipping an item into an armor slot are all blocked for the disabled item.

ItemDisabled is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 22 release versions, 1.20.1 – 26.2, and also works on Paper, Spigot, Bukkit and Purpur servers. It is licensed as Creative Commons Attribution 4.0, so the code is not open source. Fabric builds need CatoAPI and Fabric API.

Key features

  1. Timed or permanent disablement

The disable command accepts a duration, or -1 to keep an item disabled until an operator enables it again.

  2. Command-based control

Restrictions are set and lifted by commands that name a target by its Minecraft item ID.

  3. Blocked actions

Using, attacking, interacting and equipping a disabled item are all stopped, and the player receives a message.

  4. Client overlay and tooltip

A red semi-transparent overlay and a tooltip mark disabled items in the client's inventory.

Questions

Does ItemDisabled need CatoAPI?

Yes. CatoAPI and Fabric API are both listed as required dependencies, so they must be installed next to ItemDisabled on Fabric.

Which items can be disabled?

Any item identified by its Minecraft ID can be disabled, including blocks, armor and food, with the disable command.

Can a disablement be undone?

Yes. The enable command lifts the restriction on an item, and timed disablements end on their own.
