Itematic
by ErrorCraft
Itematic lets pack makers define new items with data files on Fabric, without writing Java code, and it covers custom items, item events and villager trades.
What it does
Items are described in data rather than compiled code, so a pack can add new items and change how existing ones behave. The library is aimed at developers and pack makers who need items that go beyond what datapacks alone can express. Its author notes a repository with examples for anyone starting out.
Itematic is a Library, with Technology and Utility as secondary categories. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Files are published for Fabric only, across 12 release versions 1.20.5 – 26.3, and snapshot builds are published as well. The latest Fabric file is 0.9.0-preview.2+26.3 for 26.3, released on 2026-10-13 on the beta channel. The code is open source under the Apache License 2.0.
Key features
Custom items
Pack makers can define items with their own properties and behavior through data files.
Customisable creative inventory stacks
The stacks shown in the Creative inventory can be set, so a pack controls which variants appear there.
Item events
Actions can run when an item is used, which lets a custom item respond to player input.
Villager trades
Custom items can be offered in villager trades, so a pack can add new goods to the economy.
Actions with contexts
Actions draw on several kinds of context, so the same action can behave differently depending on where it fires.

Use cases

Custom economies
A server adds items to villager trades to shape how players earn and spend in-game currency.
Who it’s for: Developers and pack makers who want to create items with data files on Fabric. Players of an existing pack get the items only if the pack includes them.
