Item Pickup Toast

by L-Liangg

Item Pickup Toast shows recently collected items on the HUD, so a player can see what came in from a mining run or a chest without opening the inventory.

ForgeClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1 – 1.21.5

What it does

Each time the player picks up an item, a small entry appears on the screen and stays for a set time. When the time runs out, entries leave one at a time rather than all at once. The count of visible entries has a limit, so a large pickup does not cover the rest of the HUD.

The display can be placed in one of four corners or at the bottom centre. The display time, the delay before entries are removed and the maximum number of visible items are all set in the in-game config screen, reached from the Mods menu under ItemPickupToast. The mod is a Forge mod, and the mod file goes into the mods folder like any other Forge mod.

Only the client needs it: a server can run without the mod, and players who join a server that lacks it see nothing extra. The code is released under the MIT License, and the source code and issue tracker are linked from the project page.

Key features

  1. Pickup list on the HUD

Recently collected items appear on screen as soon as they are picked up, so their names and counts stay visible.

  2. Timed removal

Entries disappear one at a time after a configurable delay, so the list shrinks gradually instead of clearing at once.

  3. Display position

The list can be placed in a corner of the screen or at the bottom centre, whichever suits the layout of the HUD.

  4. Display time and limit

The time an entry stays on screen and the maximum number of visible items are both adjustable in the config screen.
