Impatient Torch
by biorfn
Impatient Torch adds torches that speed up the tick rate of nearby blocks and block entities, so crops, furnaces and hoppers finish their work sooner.
What it does
Impatient Torch places special torches whose effect reaches blocks and block entities within a short range, raising their tick rate. Crops grow, furnaces smelt, machines process and hoppers move items faster while a torch is near them. Torches come in several sub-tiers with different sizes, so a builder can pick the range that fits a base layout.
The mod also includes torches aimed at mobs. A hostile mob torch increases the spawn and tick rate of hostile mobs in its area, and a passive mob torch does the same for passive animals. Spawn logic can be adjusted in the config, and version 0.1.2 added redstone control so torches can be turned off with a redstone signal. Common Network is required, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.21.1 under the MIT License, which is not open source.
Key features
Block acceleration torches
Torches raise the tick rate of crops, furnaces, machines and hoppers within their range.
Mob spawn torches
Hostile and passive mob torches raise the spawn and tick rate of their mob type in a small area.
Redstone switching
Torches can be turned off with a redstone signal, so their effect can be paused from a circuit.

Use cases
Speeding up farms
Torches placed beside crop rows or furnace banks shorten the time a farm or smelting line takes to finish.
Who it’s for: Players who want faster crop growth and machine output without building extra machinery, and server owners who want configurable spawn behavior around torch placements.
How it compares
Torches Set Mobs on Fire is a server-side mod for Fabric and NeoForge, open source under the MIT License, published for 1.21 – 1.21.11 and needing only the server. TorchBowMod runs on client and server across Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.20 – 26.1, under the MIT License, which is open source. Impatient Torch targets only 1.21.1, so it covers a narrower version range than either.
