Horizontal Portals
by frikinjay
Horizontal Portals lets players build nether-style portals that lie flat on the ground, plus vertical End portals, in a world on Fabric or Quilt.
What it does
The mod adds horizontal Nether portals, vertical End portals and horizontal and vertical Eden Ring portals. A horizontal Nether portal is framed with crying obsidian blocks in a rectangle between 4x4 and 21x21, and is lit with a bucket of water after a shroomlight is placed. Vertical End portals are built from ender frames and lit with a dragon's breath, while Eden Ring portals use Eden frames and an amethyst shard.
The mod also supports the Aether Reborn portals, and generates ruined End portals with ender frames instead of vanilla frames when Repurposed Structures is present. Compatibility with Mining Dimensions is included. Installation needs Cloth Config API, and Repurposed Structures is optional for its portal changes. Horizontal Portals runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Fabric and Quilt, across seven release versions, under the MIT License; the code is not open source.
Key features
Horizontal Nether portals
Nether-style portals can be built lying flat, framed with crying obsidian in sizes from 4x4 up to 21x21.

End portals can be stood upright, built from ender frames and ignited with dragon's breath.
Eden Ring portals
Eden Ring portals come in horizontal and vertical forms, framed with Eden frames and lit with an amethyst shard.
Ignition options
Each portal type uses a different ignition item, such as a shroomlight with water or an amethyst shard, so builds vary.

Use cases
Ruined End portal rebuilds
With Repurposed Structures present, ruined End portals generate with ender frames, so the vertical version fits into those structures.
Who it’s for: Players who want flat or upright portal designs in survival worlds, and server owners who want portal variants available to every player on a shared world.
