Him brings the Herobrine myth into survival worlds as a slow, unsettling presence that watches, stalks and manipulates the player's surroundings.
What it does
Him is a subtle horror mod built on the Herobrine legend. Its entity watches the player from a distance, hides when noticed, and can blind the player if they come close. Hallucinatory audio, interaction with certain blocks, night visits and mysterious 2x2 tunnels add to the effect. The mod adds no boss fights, large generated structures or strong weapons and armor, and it keeps to the original mythos.
Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric, and the mod is published for Fabric only. The server and every player need the mod installed. Files cover 1.16.5 – 1.21.4 across seven release versions, with 1.5.0 for 1.21.4 as the latest file. The code is available under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0, which is not an open source license, and public links exist for the source code and issue tracker.
Config values are set as ranges, minimum and maximum, and the defaults produce a slow burn. The author recommends a high ambient audio level so the sound effects are heard. The mod was first published on 2023-11-11 and last updated on 2025-03-16.
