Hide Armour
by flowerinsnow
Hide Armour is a client-side utility that makes the player's own worn armour invisible on their screen, while other players still see it.
What it does
Hide Armour removes the player's own armour from the first-person view and the local character model, so the wearer sees their body without equipment. The mod does not change what other players see, and the armour stays fully equipped and working in every respect. A status indicator shows whether the hiding is currently on, and a config reload takes effect without restarting the game.
The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 24 release versions, 1.8.9 – 1.21.11, and it has snapshot builds as well. Only the client needs it, so servers run without it and players join without installing anything on the server side. Fabric API is required on Fabric builds, and Mod Menu is optional for opening its settings. The code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and the source and issue tracker are public. The latest Fabric file is 6.1.0-beta.1+fabric for 1.21.5, dated 2025-12-24, on the beta channel.
Key features
Own armour hidden
The player's worn armour is not drawn on their own character, so the body is visible while the equipment stays on.
Status display
A status indicator shows whether armour hiding is currently active for the local player.
Config reload
Changes to the settings can be reloaded while the game is running, without restarting the client.
Lightweight rewrite
The mod was rewritten from an earlier version that had many known problems, and it adds only the hiding behaviour.

How it compares
Hide The Players is a Fabric-only, client-side mod for 1.19 – 1.21 under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and it is not open source. Uneffectual is a Forge-only client-side mod for 1.18.2 – 1.20.1 under All rights reserved, so it cannot be used on the newer loaders. Auto HUD works on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.18.2 – 26.3 under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and is open source, but it changes the interface rather than the armour display.

What the author says
The old MOD had many problems, so I abandoned it and rewrote it directly. The configuration file is located at.minecraft/config/hidearmour.cfg
