Hero's Journey
by maybejake
With Hero's Journey installed on a server, the stronghold eyes used to find the End portal are replaced by a data-driven set of eyes from the datapack.
What it does
Hero's Journey is a datapack-based mod that reworks how the End is reached. Eyes of ender are changed so that the path to the stronghold and the End portal follows its own progression. Version 2.0 added eyes defined as data, so other datapacks can register their own eyes without changing the mod's code. A resource pack contained within the datapack supplies textures for the 16 eyes.
The server needs the mod, and a player may add the resource pack to see the new eye textures. Compatibility is kept with datapacks that change the stronghold, including YUNG's Better Strongholds. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and a data pack build is also offered. Files cover 1.21.4 – 26.3 across 13 release versions, and the latest file is v2.0.4+mod for 26.3, released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, so the code is open source.
Key features
Data-driven eyes
Eyes are defined in data, so datapacks can add eyes of their own and mix them with the mod's set.
Textured eye set
A resource pack bundled inside the datapack gives the 16 eyes their textures, and the pack can be dropped into the game's resource packs.
Stronghold compatibility
Datapacks that modify strongholds, such as YUNG's Better Strongholds, remain usable alongside the mod.
Crop Kettle and storage pots
Crop Kettle, Storage Pots and Finally Fried Egg add cooking and storage content on top of the progression.

Use cases
Server progression
Server owners who want a changed route to the End can run the mod so every player meets the same eyes.
Custom eye packs
Authors of other datapacks can register their own eyes through the data-driven system, without a fork.
Who it’s for: Server owners running End progression on a survival world, and datapack authors who want to add extra eyes to the stronghold path.
How it compares
HereBeDoragons is a Fabric-only mod for 1.21.11 – 26.2 under the MIT License, and it runs on the client alone, so servers do not need it. Infinite Stronghold is released under the MIT License for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 1.21 – 26.2, and it has to run on the server while players may leave it out. End Remastered Expanded is open source under the MIT License for Fabric and NeoForge across 1.21 – 26.2, and both the server and every player need it.

What the author says
The main intention of this datapack is to encourage players to do things they wouldn't normally do in the game, when was the last time you built a turtle sanctuary? This datapack does have a resource pack, which adds textures for all 16 eyes! While not required, it is recommended. If you're downloading the mod…
