Headshot Respawn adds headshot damage to ranged weapons, with a hit effect on mobs that land a shot to the head.
What it does
Ranged weapons that hit a mob's head deal extra headshot damage. When a projectile strikes the head, the creature shows a hit prompt, plays a sound and particle effects, and loses speed and sight for a short time. The headshot damage multiplier can be changed in the config file.
The mod is published for Forge only, for Minecraft 1.20.1, and is released under the MIT License, so it is open source. Its code and issue tracker are public. Files were first published on 2024-10-29 and last updated on 2024-11-01, with 1.1-hotfix as the latest file.

A head hit shows a prompt, a sound and particle effects, so the result is visible to the shooter.
