What it does

Players who want nuclear content get a rewritten, from-scratch take on the long-running HBM's Nuclear Tech line, built for Forge on 1.20.1. The mod covers radiation, nuclear bombs, industrial automation, advanced armor and tools, a shared energy network and a hazard system that tracks radioactivity, pyrophoricity and explosiveness. Radioactive materials such as uranium, plutonium and polonium feed the crafting chains, and dozens of new ingots and metal blocks support the advanced equipment.

Industry is built from several-block machines that process resources and produce power, with assembly machines for components and a wood-burning generator as the early power source. Storage through accumulators and transmission between devices keep electricity flowing. The Forge build is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and requires Architectury API, which is bundled inside the mod. Just Enough Items (JEI) is optional, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. The latest file is 0.2.1-alpha from 2026-08-09 on the alpha channel.

Key features

  1. Radiation system

Radiation spreads chunk by chunk and accumulates on players, causing dangerous effects over time.

  2. Nuclear bombs

Explosions are computed with a raycast crater generation system based on each block's blast resistance.

  3. Multiblock industry

Complex machines are assembled from several blocks to process resources and produce energy.

  4. Advanced equipment

Armor and tools carry unique perks and modifiers, and dozens of new ingots and metal blocks feed their crafting.

How it compares

Full comparison

Hbm's Nuclear Tech: 1.20.1 Port is also a Forge 1.20.1 build, but it is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only rather than the GPL of this mod. Hbm's Nuclear Tech - Muddy Edition is a Forge 1.20.1 option under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, the same license as this mod, so the choice between them comes down to the code each author maintains.
