Halo HUD
by Crendgrim
Halo HUD draws a compact ring of status bars around the crosshair, so the player's health and hunger can be read without looking down at the HUD.
What it does
Halo HUD is a Fabric-launcher utility that places a compact ring of status bars around the crosshair. Health and hunger appear there in the center of the screen, which lets a player check their condition while keeping their eyes on the scene. When both bars are full, the indicator hides itself until something changes.
Installation requires Fabric API. Mod Menu and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) are optional; with them installed, the in-game configuration screen is available from the mod list and the settings menu. Halo HUD is client-side only, so only the player's client needs it and servers can run without it. Files exist for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 18 release versions, 1.18.2 – 1.21.4, and the code is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, which makes it open source. The latest files were published on 2024-11-28.
Key features
Crosshair health and hunger ring
Health and hunger are drawn as a halo around the crosshair, so both values sit in the center of the screen.
Automatic hiding
The indicator disappears once health and hunger are both full and reappears when either drops.
In-game configuration
With Mod Menu or YetAnotherConfigLib present, the mod's settings can be changed in the game without editing files.
Works with other HUD mods
The author notes that the mod works well alongside AutoHud and Dynamic Crosshair.

Use cases
Reading state without looking down
A player in combat or while building can glance at the crosshair to see health and hunger, instead of checking the bottom of the screen.
Who it’s for: Players who want a compact status display near the center of the screen, and players who already use HUD adjustment mods such as AutoHud or Dynamic Crosshair.
