Gnetum
by decce6
Gnetum spreads each HUD redraw across several frames, so the game draws only part of the interface per frame.
What it does
The mod keeps two framebuffers. Each frame it renders one pass, a customizable slice of the full HUD, into the back framebuffer. Once every pass has finished, the back buffer is swapped with the front buffer, and each frame then draws the front buffer, which holds a texture of the complete HUD. With four passes, a full HUD update is spread over four frames, which saves many draw calls per frame and raises FPS.
Gnetum measures how long each HUD element takes to render and divides the updates accordingly, aiming to lift both average and minimum FPS. The idea is to refresh a HUD that is expensive to draw and changes rarely at a lower rate. Gnetum is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, is released for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and needs Fabric API on Fabric. Its files cover 1.12.2 – 26.3, with snapshot builds published alongside the release versions.
