Ixeris
by decce6
Ixeris moves event polling onto the main thread and sends rendering to a separate render thread, which targets the frame-rate drop players notice when moving the mouse.
What it does
When the camera turns, the game has extra work such as calculating chunk visibility. The author states that native event polling and JNI upcall overhead take CPU time that could otherwise go to rendering, and that this shows most on systems with high polling-rate mice. Ixeris addresses this mainly with two measures: threaded event polling, and buffered raw input, which it uses by default on one major desktop platform.
Ixeris also caches frequently used GLFW states so that other threads can read them without routing each call to the main thread, since many mods call GLFW from the render thread. The author says the mod should not break thread safety. The project publishes the source code and an issue tracker, and it is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only. Files are provided for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 28 release versions, with snapshot builds published alongside them.
Key features
Threaded event polling
Event polling runs on the main thread while rendering is handled by a separate render thread, so the two no longer share one thread.
Buffered raw input
Buffered raw input is used by default on one major desktop platform to reduce the cost of mouse handling while the cursor is grabbed.
Cached GLFW states
Frequently read GLFW states are cached so any thread can access them without a round trip to the main thread.
Mouse-look relief
The event polling changes aim at the frame-rate drop that appears when the camera turns, a cost the author ties to native polling overhead.
Snapshot coverage
Snapshot builds are published, so testing against pre-release game builds is possible.

How it compares
Ixeris is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and runs client-side only. Lite FPS is client-side only as well, open source under the MIT License, and covers 1.14.4 – 26.3 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge.

What the author says
Ixeris is a mod that optimizes event polling to improve client performance. You might have noticed a visible drop of the FPS when you move your mouse. Part of the FPS drop is because the game does have additional jobs to do when you turn the camera, like calculating the visibility of chunks. However, because of the…
