Food Benefits

by RagnarDragus

With Food Benefits installed, eating a food item can grant status effects, heal the player and remove other effects, depending on the food and the configured settings.

ForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v2.0 or laterOpen source1.20.1

What it does

Each food can be given its own potency and duration for the effects it grants, and it can also heal damage. The consumption time is limited to a configured time frame, so foods finish within a set period. Some foods may remove existing effects when eaten, which gives players a reason to choose one food over another in different situations.

The design takes cues from Zelda games and Breath of the Wild, where certain foods grant special effects. The aim is to change how food works in Minecraft while keeping the vanilla food system as the base. The mod is built for Forge and runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. Files cover 1.20.1 only and are released under the GNU General Public License v2.0 or later, so the code is open source. KubeJS is optional and can be installed alongside it.

What the author says

Inspired by games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, where some foods grant special effects, this mod was developed to bring a similar experience to Minecraft's food system. Now, food can grant effects with customizable potency and duration, as well as heal or damage the player.
