What it does

Flavorful Gear offers a lightweight gear progression with several optional stages, each with its own tools. The mod adds five new resources, each with a distinct mechanic and tradeoff, and a set of items that are placed into vanilla loot tables in themed ways. The diamond gear is reworked: it is crafted from diamond plates instead of diamonds, which stretches the progression so players have more time to explore new tools before reaching diamond.

The gear sets are named after their themes. Druid Gear recharges its durability from sunlight and suits the earlier part of the game. Tinkerer's Gear includes specialized tools that can chain lightning between blocks and entities, and it does not break; it loses effectiveness as its durability runs out, and it is repaired with redstone dust. Brimstone Gear is a fire-themed set that smelts mined blocks automatically, inflicts burning and gives bonuses in the Nether. Atlantean Gear is aquatic and improves movement and mining efficiency underwater.

Ivoidry Gear is an alternative upgrade path to netherite. Its armor lets the wearer survive a fall even into the void, its tools inflict levitation, and the gear never breaks. The mod includes support for Curios and Baubles, so the gear types can be worn in those slots. Flavorful Gear is published for NeoForge only, for 26.1.2, and it runs on the client and the server, so the server and every player need it. It is licensed as All rights reserved and is not open source.
