Fen's RPG Titles

by Johnfender17

Fen's RPG Titles lets server admins attach floating titles above players' heads, granted when a player reaches a set goal such as a kill count, an XP level or a dungeon boss.

What it does

Titles appear above a player's head and can be shown in chat with an optional hover description. Admins build auto-title rules either in-game through commands or directly in the mmorpgtitles auto titles.json server config. A rule tracks each player's progress and grants its title once. A unique rule is limited to one winner: the first player on the server who meets its condition is the only one who receives that title.

Trigger conditions include killing players or mobs, with an optional weapon filter, breaking blocks, visiting a dimension, biome or structure, reaching an XP level, and counting deaths or fishing catches. Chat notifications for granted titles can be toggled in the config. The chat format is configurable with placeholders, and chat prefixes can be switched off, in which case the server falls back to vanilla chat formatting.

Server owners and players can save and share complete title setups. Running the rtitle export command saves the titles players have earned and the auto-title rules into a JSON file inside the mmorpgtitles data folder; a link in chat that can be clicked jumps straight to that folder. Fen's RPG Titles is server-side only, so players join without installing it. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge, with builds for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, and the latest files are version 2.3.3. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Floating titles

Custom titles float above players' heads, giving roleplay servers and factions a visible way to show personal flair.

  2. Kill-based rules

Rules can require killing players or specific mob types, with an optional weapon filter for each condition.

  3. Progress and achievement triggers

Breaking blocks, visiting dimensions, biomes or structures, reaching XP levels, and counting deaths or fishing catches can all grant titles.

  4. Configurable chat format

Chat messages use placeholders for the player name, active title and message content, and admins can change the format in-game.

  5. Shareable title presets

The rtitle export command saves title setups as JSON, so they can be shared between servers.

NeoFactions is a NeoForge 1.21.1 server mod released under CC0 1.0 Universal, a different approach to factions rather than title rules.
