Feathered Friend replaces vanilla chat with a roleplay-focused messaging system in which trained ravens carry wax-sealed scrolls between players.
What it does
Trained ravens deliver scrolls to a recipient's mailbox, and a raven can be sent back to its base after an adventure. Scrolls are sealed with personal sigils that are crafted and stamped into the wax, so a sealed message can be traced to its sender. Ravens can also carry items such as an Ender Pearl attached to a scroll, and a tether lets a raven follow its owner around. Ravens respond to shiny objects and are picky about what they will accept.
The mod is a roleplay-focused communication overhaul, and its main purpose is to make messaging more flavorful than vanilla chat. Raven armor and new stats give the birds more uses in several ways. Feathered Friend requires Forge or NeoForge and runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files exist for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with 2.0.1.2 as the latest build for both loaders, and it is released under a custom license that is not open source.
