Favorita

by deftu

Favorita is a Library mod that lets players mark inventory slots as favorited so the items in them cannot be discarded by accident.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.8.9 – 1.21

What it does

A favorited slot refuses drop actions, quick moves and swaps, so an important item stays where it was placed. The protection covers the player inventory, the hotbar container and the offhand slot, and a favorited hotbar slot cannot be cleared by the usual inventory controls. Players can still move an item within its slot or remove the protection later.

Developers can build on the mod through the FavoritedSlots class in dev.deftu.favorita.api, which exposes functions to check whether a slot is favorited, to mark it and to unmark it. Identifier strings describe the current environment a player is in, with a constant for singleplayer and an address value for the server entry currently being played. Favorita needs Fabric API, Fabric Language Kotlin, Kotlin for Forge, OmniCore, Textile and Textualizer, and Mod Menu is optional.

The mod is client-side only, so servers need nothing installed and players alone run it. It is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later and is open source. Files cover 1.8.9 – 1.21 across Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with 12 release versions, and the latest Fabric file is 0.5.1+1.21-fabric for 1.21, released 2024-07-26 on the beta channel.

Key features

  1. Favorited item slots

Marking a slot as favorited prevents the item inside from being dropped or discarded by mistake.

  2. Protected inventory areas

Protection applies to the player inventory, the hotbar container and the offhand slot.

  3. Blocked slot actions

Drop, quick move, swap and bin-slot wipe actions are stopped for favorited slots, while moving within the slot stays possible.

  4. Developer API

The FavoritedSlots class checks, marks and unmarks slots for other mods that need the same protection.

  5. Environment identifiers

Identifier strings report the current environment, including singleplayer and the server address being played.

What the author says

If the (hotbar) slot is favorited, you can't: - Move the item within it - Drop the item - Wipe that slot using the bin slot - Quick move items into or out of that slot - Swap an item into or out of that slot An API is exposed via dev.deftu.favorita.api.FavoritedSlots which allows you to check if a slot is favorited…
