Textualizer
by deftu
Textualizer is a library for Minecraft mod developers that wraps the game's own localization system, with a simpler way to load translations and fetch translated strings.
What it does
The library targets developers who want localization handled consistently across Minecraft versions and mod loaders. It covers language metadata, loading translation files, retrieving a translated string for the current in-game language, and replacing placeholders inside that string. Developers can read the current language context through an API call and then obtain translated text from it, instead of writing their own lookup code for each version.
Textualizer depends on Kotlin for Forge, Legacy Fabric API, OmniCore and Textile, which must be installed alongside it. It runs on the client only, so a server does not need it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 16 release versions, 1.8.9 – 1.21.4, under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, and the source code is open source.
Key features
Language context lookup
Retrieves the context of the language currently selected in the game, so mods can match the player's setting.
Translated string retrieval
Returns a translated string for a given key from the loaded language files.
Placeholder replacement
Fills placeholders in translated strings with supplied values before the text is returned.
Version-consistent API
Offers one localization interface over the vanilla system, so code written once can be reused across game versions.

Use cases
Mod translations
A mod author can load its own translation files and show text in the language the player chose in the game.
Multi-version mods
Developers maintaining one codebase for several game versions can use the same localization calls across them.
Who it’s for: Mod developers who build for Fabric, Forge or NeoForge and want a localization layer over Minecraft's own system. Players do not interact with the library directly.
How it compares
Hellish Localization is a Forge mod for 1.16.5 that is client-side only and released under the MIT License. Textualizer covers a far wider range of versions and loaders instead. Hearty is a NeoForge-only mod for 1.20.4 – 1.21.4, also client-side only and under the MIT License, while Textualizer targets Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 1.8.9 – 1.21.4.
