Extreme Natural Disasters
by anobsmods
Extreme Natural Disasters simulates volcanoes, earthquakes and sinkholes on the server, tied to a simulated tectonic plate system.
What it does
The mod models tectonic plate boundaries and spawns volcano eruptions, earthquakes and sinkholes where unstable aquifer points lie. Plate movement is simulated, so no spot in a world stays safe for a permanent base forever. Its disasters are presented as extreme natural events rather than a single trigger.
Several experimental apocalypse events are included as well: a flood, a snow event and a solar event. The flood and snow events edit the block palette of newly loaded chunks, which the author says reduces lag while flooding or covering the world. The solar event is described as a classic apocalypse with extra steps, and block conversions for these events can be set in the config. The apocalypse events are labeled unfinished and laggy, and the flood is described as the most functional one at the moment.
Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric and Forge Config API Port on Forge and NeoForge. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3, and it is all rights reserved, not open source. The author recommends Xaero's World Map or JourneyMap for map display, but the mod works without either.
Key features
Plate-driven disasters
Volcanoes, earthquakes and sinkholes appear along simulated tectonic plate boundaries as the plates move.
Unstable aquifer points
Sinkholes form at unstable aquifer points, so the risk of collapse depends on where the water lies underground.
Experimental apocalypses
Flood, snow and solar apocalypse events are included, though the author marks them as unfinished and laggy.
Palette-based chunk edits
Flood and snow events change the block palette of newly loaded chunks rather than existing ones, which the author says lowers lag.
Configurable block conversions
Block conversions used by the apocalypse events can be defined by the server owner in the config.
