Extra Player Render (Paper Doll)

by TartaricAcid

Extra Player Render draws the player model on the screen so players can see their character in a corner of the interface.

ForgeClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.7.10 – 1.20.1

What it does

The mod renders the player entity inside a GUI panel, so the character stays visible while the player plays. Players can pick the size, position and angle of the rendered character, and the settings are saved between sessions. The rendering calls the vanilla player renderer directly, which is why models from other mods, such as Custom Player Model, appear as they do in the game.

Extra Player Render is client-side only, so only the player who installs it needs it, and servers run without it. It is published for Forge only, with builds for 1.7.10 – 1.20.1 across 16 release versions, and the code is open source under the MIT License. Its public source code and issue tracker are linked from the project page. The latest Forge file is 1.0.0 for 1.20.1, published on 2024-02-24.

Key features

  1. Rendered player panel

A panel on the screen shows the player entity, so the character can be watched during play.

  2. Adjustable size, position and angle

The size, screen position and facing angle of the rendered character can all be changed.

  3. Keyboard-opened settings screen

Pressing the mod's key combination opens a GUI where the rendering options are changed with the mouse and scroll wheel.

  4. Command for older versions

On versions 1.13 – 1.16 a command enables the rendering, while the key combination opens the settings.
