Extended Hotbar

by DenWav

Extended Hotbar gives players a second row of hotbar slots, so items from the bottom row of the inventory can be swapped in without leaving the game view.

What it does

The mod renders a double-wide hotbar by drawing a second hotbar alongside the first rather than above it. Pressing R swaps the two rows, while Shift-R swaps only the item in the hand. A toggle can disable or enable the swapping, and a fluent mode lets the player scroll along the bar so the swap happens transparently. Controls use the standard Minecraft controls settings, and the extra options sit on their own page in the configuration menu.

The mod is client-side only, so a vanilla server accepts players who run it and no server install is needed. It requires Fabric API, and Mod Menu is optional and only needed to reach the configuration page from the menu. Files are published for Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt, with the latest builds for 1.21.1. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.

Key features

  1. Second hotbar row

The bottom row of the player's inventory becomes a hot-swappable extension of the existing hotbar.

  2. Row and hand swapping

R swaps the two rows, and Shift-R swaps only the item held in the hand.

  3. Fluent scrolling mode

Swapping can happen as the player scrolls along the bar, without pressing a key each time.

  4. Configurable controls

Keys follow the standard Minecraft controls settings, and a separate configuration page holds the extra options.
