Extended Armor

by CAS_ual_TY

Extended Armor is a Forge equipment mod that adds golden and chainmail helmets, chestplates, leggings and boots, and lets players dye armor.

ForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.16.5 – 1.20.1

What it does

The mod registers a full set of golden armor pieces and a full set of chainmail armor pieces, so each material gains a helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots. A player wearing the pieces gets the protection values those materials provide in vanilla, and the new items show up in the creative inventory as ordinary equipment.

A dye feature lets players color armor pieces with dyes in a crafting grid, which gives the existing gear a visible variation without changing its protection. Because the armor is a normal item set, other mods that read armor slots can treat it like any vanilla armor. The source code and issue tracker are public.

The mod is published for Forge only, and its files cover 1.16.5, 1.18.2, 1.19.2, 1.19.3, 1.19.4 and 1.20.1. The latest Forge file is 1.20.1-1.8, released 2023-07-05. Extended Armor runs on client and server, so both sides need it, and it is released under the MIT License as open source.

Key features

  1. Golden armor set

A helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots made of gold, each as its own item in the equipment slots.

  2. Chainmail armor set

A matching set of chainmail helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots for players who want a mid-tier option.

  3. Dyeable armor

Armor pieces can be colored with dyes, so players can tint their gear to match a build or a team.

  4. Standard armor slots

The pieces occupy the same slots as vanilla armor, so they work with the existing equipment flow.

Use cases

Team colors on a server

Server members can dye their armor to tell teams apart during shared play.

Extra early-game armor options

The chainmail and golden sets add armor tiers between leather and iron for players building up gear.

Who it’s for: Players who want more armor choices and dye options in survival or multiplayer worlds, and server owners who run a Forge modpack that should include them.

How it compares
