Epic Compat: ParCool

by hd42

Epic Compat: ParCool is a Forge compatibility bridge that lets the Epic Fight combat mod and the ParCool parkour mod run together without conflicts.

ForgeClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.18.2 – 1.20.1

What it does

When a player performs a ParCool parkour move, Epic Fight animations are paused for the duration of that move, so the two animation systems do not fight each other. The mod sets this up as a compatibility layer between the two mods rather than changing their core behavior. Players who use an Epic Fight skill are prevented from starting a ParCool move while that skill is active, which keeps combat and parkour from overlapping.

Two ParCool moves are handled differently. Fast Run is the one exception that keeps Epic Fight animations running, and the ParCool Dodge roll is excluded from the pause, so Epic Fight's own dodge skill is recommended in its place because the roll can look slightly off. The Breakfall roll works without adjustment. The mod runs on the client only, so the server does not need it, and it requires Epic Fight and ParCool! to be installed alongside it. It is published for Forge across three game versions, 1.18.2 – 1.20.1, and the source code is available under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, which makes it open source.

Key features

  1. Animation pause during parkour

Epic Fight animations are temporarily disabled while a ParCool parkour move plays, keeping the two animation systems from clashing.

  2. Skill conflict prevention

Players using an Epic Fight skill cannot start a ParCool parkour move, which blocks the overlap between combat and traversal.

  3. Move exceptions

Fast Run keeps Epic Fight animations active, and the ParCool Dodge roll is excluded, while the Breakfall roll works without changes.

  4. Recommended settings

Disabling Epic Fight's filter animation option and enabling its mining combat are recommended, with Epic Tweaks suggested for a more immersive result.

What the author says

This mod provides compability between Epic Fight and ParCool. I have tested all of the available ParCool moves (by the time of this writing) and most transitions between the animations are decent to good. An exception to this would be ParCools Dodge roll. It looks a little bit off and I would recommend to disable…
