Embers Text API
With Embers Text API installed, server owners and mod authors can send styled on-screen messages whose letters move, glow and reveal with effects such as rainbow gradients and typewriter reveals.
What it does
Embers Text API is a library for drawing animated, styled text overlays on screen. Effects can be combined and stacked, so a single message may gradient its color, pulse a neon halo and shake at once. Messages can use custom TrueType or OpenType fonts rendered with multi-channel signed distance fields, which keeps edges sharp at any size. Items and entities can appear inline within the text.
Developers get a programmatic interface for issuing styled messages from the server to clients, registering custom effects, parsing an XML-style markup for quick styling, or building text spans in code. Fabric API is required, and KubeJS is optional. Files target 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and the mod is licensed under a custom license; it is not open source. Three other catalog mods require it: Cobblemon Spawn Alerts, ADVERSARY FELLED and Grovewatch.
Key features
Per-character visual effects
Rainbow, gradient, glitch, wave, shake and outline effects apply per character and can be stacked on one span.
Neon glow halos
Signed distance field halos surround glyphs, with adjustable color, radius, softness and pulse.
Text animations
Typewriter reveals, obfuscate reveal and hide, and scrolling marquees animate text over time.
Whole-message motion
Messages can slam, shatter, run a matrix effect, slide, breathe or spin as a single unit.
Markup parsing
An XML-style tag syntax styles text inline, and a bracket form such as slam is also recognized.
Inline items and entities
Items and entities can be rendered within a line of text alongside the characters.

Use cases
Server announcements
A server can send styled messages to clients from the server side, so announcements look distinct from chat.
Custom effect packs
Mod authors can register their own effects through the Java API and use them in the same markup.
Who it’s for: Mod authors who want styled text in their interfaces, and server owners who send announcements or event messages with custom fonts and motion.
How it compares
Custom Tooltip API is client-side only and open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, and it is aimed at tooltips. Immersive Damage Indicators is also client-side only and open source under the MIT License, covering 1.20 – 1.21.1, but it shows damage numbers. Embers Text API covers a wider range of effects and can send messages from the server.
