ElytraUtils
by johnseth97
ElytraUtils is a Fabric client-side flight display for elytra pilots, adding an aircraft-style heads-up panel with attitude, speed and altitude readouts.
What it does
The HUD draws a pitch ladder with climb and dive rungs spaced 10 apart, a fixed boresight marker at the waterline showing where the nose points, and a flight path marker showing where the glider is actually heading. An angle-of-attack indexer reads out the current angle, while a bearing tape across the top gives compass heading. Airspeed is shown on a horizontal tape scaled in blocks per second, and a barometric altitude tape scrolls alongside it.
The panel also estimates values derived from Minecraft's own flight physics rather than rough guesses: optimal ascend and descend angles, estimated distance, impact damage prediction, glide range, bingo fuel and durability warnings. The derivations follow the vanilla physics as decompiled and simulated by the author. The display is an extension of CoordinatesDisplay: it reads the coordinates HUD and can be placed beside or instead of it, and either text readout can be turned off without affecting the other.
The mod requires BoxLib, Coordinates Display and Fabric API. It is client-side only, so servers do not need it. Files exist for 1.21.11 only, and the code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.
Key features
Pitch ladder and markers
Climb and dive rungs sit 10 apart against the horizon, with a fixed boresight and a floating flight path marker.
Immersive flight HUD toggle
An immersive mode switches the instrument panel on and off, and a hotkey can flip it without opening the settings.
Minimum radar altitude
Instruments stay hidden until the glider climbs above a configured radar height above ground, and a sticky option keeps them visible after a dip near treetops.
Fading and transparency
The display fades out at its edges instead of clipping hard, and scale, colour and alpha can be set per element.
Derived flight values
Glide range, impact damage prediction and fuel or durability warnings are computed from the flight state and shown as text.

What the author says
A Fabric companion mod that turns CoordinatesDisplay's HUD into a proper elytra flight instrument panel — a fighter-jet-style attitude display, impact damage prediction, glide range, and a "bingo fuel" durability warning, all derived from Minecraft's actual flight physics rather than eyeballed guesses.
