ElytraRenderFix
by Quarxy
ElytraRenderFix corrects how the elytra wings are drawn when a chestplate with a trim is worn with them on Fabric.
What it does
Minecraft's own rendering code tries to apply an armor trim to the elytra wings layer, which cannot accept a trim, so the wings appear as the missingno texture. The mod changes that step so the chestplate trim is drawn correctly on the chestplate layer, and the wings keep their normal look. The fix targets the render path used when an elytra is equipped as an armor piece through the minecraft:equippable component, which a resource pack can set up.
The mod covers the Fabric builds for 1.21.10 – 26.1 and is released as client-side only, so it is installed on the player's game and not on a server. Its latest file is 1.2 for 26.1, published on 2026-03-31. Versions 1.21.10 and 1.21.11 also have files. The code is available publicly, but the mod is released under All rights reserved, not as open source.
Key features
Trimmed chestplate rendering
A chestplate trim is drawn on the chestplate layer instead of being forced onto the elytra wings layer.
Elytra wings kept intact
The wings layer stops receiving the missingno texture, so an elytra worn as an armor piece keeps its own appearance.
Equippable component support
The fix works with elytra items defined through the minecraft:equippable component and their equipment model files.

Use cases
Trimmed netherite armor with wings
A player wears a netherite chestplate with a trim and an elytra model, and the trim shows on the chestplate rather than breaking the wings.
Resource pack armor sets
A resource pack author builds an elytra armor piece with the minecraft:equippable component, and the trim renders as intended.
Who it’s for: Players who use trimmed chestplates together with elytra wings, and resource pack creators who add elytra as an armor piece on Fabric.
How it compares
Glideplate is open source under the MIT License and runs on Fabric for 1.21.11 – 26.3, but it is server required with client optional, so servers need it. Purpir ElytraSwap is client-side only, open source is not claimed, and is published under the MIT License for 1.21.8 – 26.3. Hidden Armour is client-side only and open source under the MIT License for 1.21.5 – 26.3. ElytraRenderFix targets only the trim rendering on the elytra layer and does not change what is worn.

What the author says
With the minecraft:equippable component, it is possible to determine the layers that an item renders when it is equipped. This mod fixes a bug that occurs when rendering a chestplate layer and an elytra together. If the chestplate has a trim, the Elytra has a missingno texture because Minecraft's rendering code tries…
