Eating Pace
by Neuromuser
Eating Pace changes how food works in Minecraft, splitting items into quick snacks, combat foods and high-saturation meals with their own effects.
What it does
Eating Pace reworks eating for the vanilla food system. Foods are grouped by how they are eaten: fast snacks that grant short buffs but offer low saturation, sustain foods, combat foods, and slow meals that take longer to finish and give a large saturation boost. The mod also shows a visual indication while a player eats, so the progress of a meal is visible on screen.
Eating is interrupted by damage, except for poison, fire, drowning and similar sources, which leave the meal going. The golden carrot is set as a universal food in the mod's design, and a saturation cap limits how much the hunger bar can be filled at once. Most values are set in a configuration file, including the 30 vanilla and 20 configurable options the mod exposes.
Eating Pace is published for Fabric only, for the 1.19.2 – 1.21.1 range, with 2.1.1+1.21.1 as the latest file for 1.21.1. The mod runs on the client and on the server, so both need it. The code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Food categories
Foods are divided into quick snacks, combat foods, sustain foods and high-saturation meals, each with its own effect.
Eating interruption
Damage from most sources cancels an ongoing meal, while poison, fire and drowning do not stop the player from eating.
Eating progress display
A visual indication on screen shows how far along a meal is while the player eats.
Saturation cap
A configurable saturation cap limits the total saturation a food can add, changing how far the hunger bar fills.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who want food to carry different effects in survival, and server owners who want to tune how eating works for everyone who joins.
How it compares
Saturative is client and server, open source under the MIT License, and published for Fabric 1.20.1 – 1.21. Additional Saturation is also client and server and MIT-licensed, but covers only 1.20.1 – 1.20.4. Daily Meal is server required with the client optional, under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 only, and covers 1.19.4 – 1.21.4. Eating Pace differs from these by grouping foods into categories with their own effects rather than only adding saturation.
