DuskAFK marks idle players as AFK on a Fabric server, and staff can send themselves into spectator mode for the same state.

What it does

A player is marked AFK automatically after 5 minutes without changing blocks, and the tab list shows AFK players in gray above their character through vanilla scoreboard teams. Players can also enter AFK manually with the afk command. Running the command again brings a player back to where they were, facing the same direction, in the same dimension and game mode.

Installation requires Fabric API. LuckPerms is an optional companion for permissions. DuskAFK is server-side only, so players join without installing anything. It is open source under the MIT License and has a Fabric file for 26.2, version 1.0.2.
