Dungeon Loot Configurator

by alchemyyy

Dungeon Loot Configurator changes which items generated dungeon chests can hold, using datapack-driven loot modifiers for NeoForge on 1.21.1.

NeoForgeServer required, client optionalMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1

What it does

The configurator loads loot modifier JSON files from datapacks, so pack makers can add loot to chests without writing code. A modifier can sample extra loot tables and append their results to a target chest, letting a server tune the loot a dungeon offers by editing data instead of rebuilding the world.

Because the modifiers live in datapacks, the mod keeps compatibility with other mods that use the same loot-table system, and datapacks built for Loot Integrations can work alongside it. Dungeon Loot Configurator is a server-side mod: the server needs it, while players may leave it out. It is released under the MIT License and is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker.

Installation needs NeoForge for 1.21.1; the first and only file, 1.0.0, was published on 2026-06-03 and covers that single game version.

Key features

  1. Loot modifier JSON

Modifier files in datapacks define which loot is added to a chosen chest or table.

  2. Extra loot sampling

A modifier can draw items from additional loot tables and append them to the target chest.

  3. Skipped map items

Map items and items under a tag can be excluded from the results so they are not added to chests.

  4. Overflow trimming

Generated results can be trimmed to the chest's capacity, so extra loot does not overflow the inventory.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Server owners and datapack authors who want to change dungeon chest contents through data rather than code. Players who only join a server need nothing installed.

How it compares

Full comparison

Scavenging is client and server, open source under the MIT License and published for 1.21.1, so both sides run it. Simple Loot Viewer is also client and server, open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only, and ships for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt on 1.21.1, which makes it a viewer rather than a configurator. Dungeon Loot Configurator differs from both: it is server required with client optional, and it is not a loot viewer.

What the author says

Adds datapack-driven loot-table integrations. This mod keeps compatibility with the mod "Loot Integrations", so datapacks built for that mod should work here as well.
