Dungeon Conquest API
by leoncer1994
Dungeon Conquest API is a Forge library that generates large instanced dungeons from datapacks, and it is the base that the Dungeon Conquest: Stormborn Tomb mod builds on.
What it does
The API creates instanced dungeons: each dungeon is placed in its own dedicated dimension, which keeps very large structures out of the main world. Structures are defined through datapacks, so a pack maker can add renewable dungeon structures without changing code. A structure's NBT file is paired with a JSON file that tells the API to recognize it as a dungeon. The approach is inspired by the Fabric mod Dungeonz.
Dungeons are linked to the overworld by a portal. Players can enter and leave freely, and their progress is kept between visits. After a dungeon is created, a 5-hour countdown starts. When the dungeon is deleted, it can be regenerated with refreshed mobs and loot. Players still inside when cleanup is scheduled are given a 20-minute delay before the reset. Dungeon Conquest: Stormborn Tomb requires this API, so it is installed alongside it.
The mod is published for Forge only, for Minecraft 1.20.1, with 2.0.0 as the latest file, released 2026-09-30. It runs on client and server, and the code is under the MIT License, so it is not open source. The first file appeared on 2026-07-27.
Key features
Instanced dungeon dimensions
Each dungeon is generated in a dedicated dimension, so large structures do not weigh on the main world.
Datapack-defined structures
New dungeon structures are added through datapacks, with an NBT file and a JSON file that identifies the dungeon.
Portal access and saved progress
A portal links each dungeon to the overworld, and players can come and go while their progress is preserved.
Timed regeneration
A 5-hour countdown after creation leads to deletion, after which the dungeon regenerates with fresh mobs and loot.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.

How it compares
The Harvest and Dungeon Realm are both Forge mods for 1.20 – 1.20.1 under All rights reserved, not open source, and both run on client and server. XP: Dungeon Blocks is a Forge and NeoForge mod for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, also client and server and not open source. Dungeon Conquest API is a library focused on instanced dungeon generation and regeneration rather than gameplay content.
